most importantly, though. don't ever, EVER put deformed gummy bears on your dashboard to be a roadtrip mascot, because there is a serious chance you will forget about them once you reach your destination, and your car will become covered in practically indestructable goo that you will try to persuade your little sister to remove.

sadly, she doesn't do a very good job and you get to stare at it every day, wondering when you'll get around to trying to clean it yourself.
